Discovery Northern Rhône

Discovery Northern Rhone, a case made up of 2 whites and 1 red, to start with the red it is 100 % Syrah based wine from Nicolas Badel, who also produces a Saint-Joseph, it has a flattering floral nose of violets and black fruit and a smooth texture with rounded tannins and a pronounced taste of black currant, an amazing companion for a cheese and charcuterie board.
The 2 whites are both from Domaine Barou, the first is the what you would expect in this region, a Viognier with the usual suspects of this grape, peach, apricot and violets but still nicely mineral and fresh.
The second is a bit different, it’s a chardonnay called Rebel Rebel, but it got all the winemakers attention to make it into a big success, it is dense and rich in texture with hints of citrus, an easy drinking wine not too heavy
