The AOC is known for producing high-quality dry white wines. The production is limited to a specific geographic area, including the towns of Fuissé, Solutré-Pouilly and Vergisson, in the department of Saône-et-Loire, France. The wine is characterized by its rich, complex and elegant notes of apple, pear, and buttery, nutty notes with a good acidity and minerality. The AOC was created in 1936 and it is considered as one of the most famous white wine AOCs of Burgundy. Pouilly-Fuissé wines are considered to be among the best Chardonnay wines of Burgundy and are often compared to those of Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet.
