Saint Joseph

The Saint Joseph appellation is a wine appellation located in the northern Rhône Valley of France. The wines produced in this appellation are primarily red wines made from the Syrah grape, although small amounts of white wine made from Marsanne and Roussanne grapes are also produced.

The Saint Joseph appellation covers a large area of the northern Rhône Valley, spanning both the left and right banks of the Rhône River. The appellation includes 26 communes and covers a total of around 1,200 hectares of vineyards.

The red wines produced in the Saint Joseph appellation are known for their depth, complexity, and ability to age. The best examples are typically full-bodied and rich, with flavours of dark fruit, spice, and a hint of smokiness. The white wines produced in the appellation are also highly regarded, known for their floral aromas and flavours of ripe stone fruit.

Overall, the Saint Joseph appellation is considered one of the premier wine regions in the northern Rhône Valley, alongside other appellations such as Côte-Rôtie and Hermitage.
