Saint-Aubin 1er cru

Saint-Aubin 1er Cru is an Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) for white wine produced in the Burgundy region of France. The AOC is located in the commune of Saint-Aubin and the wine is made from the Chardonnay grape variety. The wines are known for their complexity, minerality and balance. The area under cultivation is relatively small, around 300 hectares.

Saint-Aubin 1er Cru AOC wines are considered to be some of the best expressions of Chardonnay from Burgundy and are highly sought after by wine connoisseurs. They are typically characterized by a pale gold colour and aromas of citrus and mineral, as well as a good acidity that makes them a great food pairing wine. The AOC is divided into two categories: “Saint-Aubin” and “Saint-Aubin 1er Cru” where the latter is considered to be the highest quality wines and are subject to additional quality control. The vineyards are situated on the hillsides of the Côte de Beaune, with south-facing exposure, which makes them ideal for growing Chardonnay.
